    Ethrum, First Age
    The Age of Shaping
    Turn One

Dawn of Worlds - Ethrum SuceZ18

Ethrum lies dormant, a sleeping plane overlooked within the infinite recesses of the material realm. Much of it is desolate and featureless; endless badlands and deserts of inert rock, devoid of magical potential.

However, in the heart of Ethrum upon the shores of it's great circle sea there stretches a vast expanse of fertile land where the mountains and steppes break and fall into lakes and coastal plains. Here magical energy flows as a font from the material plane and around it the foundations of life and divine exploitation blossom.

Rife with potential for a resourceful spirit, this great oasis has gone un-noticed thus far. But in a cosmos of hungry and ever-seeking deities, it's only a matter of time before the great cycle finds it's way to Ethrum...

Adrift for longer than any would care to remember, the red veil came to a slow stop over the nondescript looking plane. Had it been any other slab of dirt, it might've gone on its way - to behold more wondrous sights. Today would soon prove not to be that day however, as the crimson shroud contracted and began to warp into a shape more worthy of terrestrial travel.

What it found was deafening silence. And then silence was no more, as with it came the currents of change. A howling wind rattled the very plane, dying out into a gentle, ever lasting breeze; its one mark left on the world as the traveler took off again, this time to explore every nook and cranny this place with strange allure had to offer

There was nothing to stir in the Aether. The grand theatre of the dream wailed in morose silence, a dry, uninhabited desert. In the midst of all this, the stage mired in sand, the seats bathed in the scathing embrace of a sun that gave no heat, a lone figure sat slouched in a gilded, embroidered chair, form so vague and face hidden by an actor’s smiling mask.

He surveyed the production, barren and on the wane, the grand silken curtains waving limply on the first breadth of an ethereal wind. Worlds had died and races fallen, gambits rose, and now the play was done; the production finished.

But the encore loomed. And in good time, too. He felt so terribly bored.

He glided from the seat, his step quickening. The sand parted for him, each step clearing the path.

And that expressionless mask regarded the shadow of the world as it eclipsed the lifeless sky above.

There was millenia to consider. A sharp stretch of extended fingers.

From the dramatist’s script, the clouds parted. At a distant isle, the first snows fell, timid, onto frigid tundra soil.

And the composer watched in amazement.

    The Giver and the Faithful arrived from the consuming emptiness that embraces this plane like a suffocating mother would a babe. They landed upon the shore of a distant lake, yearning to reach the sky, and spoke with the ambitious pool of water;

"Why do you seek the sky?"

The Giver and the Faithful asked and the words sprouted from their mouths in unison and echoed across the vasts mountains, bouncing from wall to wall. Sound had come to the world and they decreed it good. They were humble and benign in those days, oblivious to evil and pain for its was not in their design.

"For I have never been there."

The ambitious pool of water answered and the Giver and the Faithful listened, sat thereon the shore where they had landed; leaving their footprints and a promise behind.

    Xanthas, Turn One

Xanthas drifted through the cosmos, a fleeting dark wisp spiralling through the firmament of the material plane. He had grown tired and hungry from his centuries long search for a fitting host-plane, and his arcane power grown feeble.

Ethrum was too delicious to pass by. Xanthas descended to it like a starved tic, eager to gorge upon it and grow fat. He sensed the arcane residue of other spirits like himself that had arrived recently, but paid them no heed - tiresome being the prattles of other deities - and settled upon the deep waters of a large lake nestled deep within the high, cool mountains of the south.

The world was silent save the hiss of a great wind somewhere in the aether. It had a divine quality which unsettled him. Removing himself from it, he burrowed a deep cave into the flank of one of the sheer mountains bordering the lake and entrenched himself in its depths.

His birth was signaled by an indigo colored comet..

    and

    ..with his arrival, magic bloomed.

Dawn of Worlds - Ethrum ZThdHBW

And so, a bright indigo colored comet streaked across the sky, leaving a trail of residual magical energy crackling with life. For a brief moment it illuminated the darkness of the vast plane of Ethrum with dancing lights of violet and azure, before dying down somewhere amidst the vast mountains.

Then cosmic energy began to condense and re-shape, strenghtening and weakening. Arkaenon was weak and fragile, yet this World was full of potential to absorb and mold to the one's will. Through this act of divinity, the power would return and with it Order shall reign.

And so Arkaenon rose up amidst the sky and bathed the land in his energy and amidst the darkness life began to sprout from the barren wastelands. Through the ground began to grow and intertwine giant trees, branches clashing against each other as if locked in conflict.

When the dust settled, Arkaenon bathed the sky above the forests with his power and manifested clouds of water, which began to softly pelt the woodlands and invigorate them.

Satisfied with the sanctuary he had build for himself, the God of Magic hid inside his creations and began to meditate in quiet contemplation. He awaited his power to grow through sheer force of will and divine discipline, much akin to the forest that surrounded him.

    Affos, Turn One

Eternal silence, the cosmos was an undisturbed pond in the forests. Only the light of the stars danced whilst the shadow of the moon stalked from afar. Affos, was bored. He craved for something else, the lifeless creations in the empty space were not enough to satisfy him. He abandoned his scrolls, his contraptions, his home and set out to find a world to design, to breathe in life.

Ethrum was there, a lush green world with a range of mountains and lakes. Affos quickly came down to this world and was elated that he found a place for his new creations, like a hungry dog barking over a bone. After days of running around the world looking for a sanctuary, he found a large golden plane, when he came down he experienced something he never would have thought about. Winds. He felt the winds sweep through the plane and to him, something godly in nature. Where he came from did not have any wind currents, nor temperature. It was only the celestial songs that he heard; a perfect harmony.

Affos, after experiencing this on the new found world, made a gargantuan tree, and in it made his second home, his sanctuary. The tree was filled with ancient scrolls and strange contraptions, and in there he started to do his divine duty. He started to create.

Dawn of Worlds - Ethrum MT8ReTt
    N'hil, Turn One
A Golden spark against the hills, and then the sand erupted.

As I wandered the massive void, my eyes glimmered at the sight of marvel. The entirety of the universe whispered to me. I saw the shimmering stars giggle and flutter around in the night, the planets shifting around them, as if watching the wondrous dance of the sky. Moons, asteroids, and so much more, all around this realm, but I yet feel incomplete. Why is it so? What could it be?
Sands sweep across planets I once touched in far off orbits, now only dust exists, nothing but the dust and the fire breathing inside it.

Then and there, I saw it. The shining indigo, it flew right near me! Where did it come from? Where did it go? I had to know. It's trail was still heated as I moved straight behind, Oh! What a chase!
A strange dimension, a wasteland of ice and hills. Why is it heading there? I must know.

A dubiously unique region. I feel it coursing in my being, the desire for it, I must have it. Yes, I must. I already float towards it. I break, I shatter, I shimmer in the wind, as my skin glows gold, and the cold flows in.

The hills break my fall, the heat passes with me, the sand encroaches..

    The sand encroaches.

    Ainaran

The endless void, unchanging ever stale. A jewel, pulsing with Arcanic energies ripe for molding. Ainaran approached, taking interest in the mighty constructs that might come from this plane.

Slowly descending, Ainaran found himself above the endless ocean. He smiled raising his mighty hammer, the runes glowing he swings his hammer down. The hammer crashes upon the air, cracking and shattering as a mass amount of energy being released in that moment. Where he struck, the sea parts a massive red mountain racing past the form and parting the clouds high into the air. A massive red mountain range forming, a new continent raising far to the Northwest of the continent at the center the largest mountain of them all.

Dawn of Worlds - Ethrum Chaos-flame-ember

    Spoiler:

The night was cold and long, it’s raven black cloak cowering the land far as the horizon goes, leaving a shiver of coldness in it’s wake. There was no warmth, this could the spirit see. A flicker sparked within the ever-closing spirit. The spark glowed up a path for the spirit, it could see dark figures arising from the ground.

    “Trees?”

The spirit asked itself just before the spirit flew past the trees, evading the countless figures beneath -- now above by just an inch -- or so it thought. The spirit had landed directly into the root of one of the countless trees. The flicker within the spirit grew by the second, soon spreading from the Spirit and onto the tree it had landed within.

“This is clean, this is a pure place. My sanctuary, for now.”

Cackling as he over-looked his monstrous mountain, once more he raised his hammer and once more it glowed as he swung it downwards. The island shaking and a massive Anvil forming upon the cost, one that he would use to forge his first creatures. The first to inhabit the world, they would be his first creation upon this world his first gift.

First, he created a creature of living iron. The creature, would be able to change its' shape and form at will. It would be strong against the elements, and powerful against any other creature that should challenge it. The creature would eat the stone of the world, and in return their stool would filter out the minerals excreting them and allowing them to become one with the world.

The second creature, one of stone which consumed water as nourishment endlessly traveling the world.

The third creature, one of wood shaped much like a tree, one that would consume Iron for nourishment laying dormant when it was not near. Yet when Iron revealed itself, the creature would attack consuming the iron and producing water allowing for it to soak into the ground and be consumed by the world.

    1. A shape-shifting iron creature, which eats stone and produces minerals allowing them to feed into the planet.
    2. A creature of living stone, the creature wanders finding its' nourishment through the water of the world.
    3. A creature of engraved living wood, it remains dorment less' a iron comes near at which point it assaults branches twisting around the metal and consuming it. In return, it produces a vast amount of water into the soil.

After so many days and nights trekking through a featureless wasteland, the stranger caught a glimpse of a tree-line on the horizon. Hastening his journey, he arrived there by the fall of night to behold this grand forest in all of its glory. Envy took root in the god's heart as he saw the pureness within. It had to be his.

Yet, the leering trespasser sensed another's presence within this grove's thousand trunks. One that latched onto this prize for the same reasons that he so dearly craved it. And so, this addition to his timeless collection would have to wait for another day. With the first cry of sentient life ushered into the world, he left the woods behind and set out for the Red Mountain.

There, he took aside one of each of the Steward's living, breathing creations... They were torn apart, some of their limbs remodeled, while others were discarded still. Finally the veiled god's intent became clear as they were grafted back together into a refreshing, new form.

Quadrupedal predators, their skin that of iron, with a great hunger for wood to fuel their bulky canine forms. They processed their meals by means of fire, frequently requiring intakes of water to remain cool, or face the risk of melting down. Crude but effective machinery released upon the forest, in an effort to taunt that-which-hides-among-trees.

    Pure spite.

    EOROS

It snowed over the desert. The dream scape, eternally shifting, never fixed, smothered sand in snow. He was leaning back again, on his chair, the vast view of Ethrum smothering a purple-splotched sky. His hand flexed, straining against the cured leather of a glove.

The circle about the chair remained untouched by the traces of white abyss descending, and the realm was mute. He watched creation, creators, and their acts, expression - literally - veiled behind an exaggerative actor's farce of a smile.

And with a gentle pressing of the conductor's baton, craggy rock sundered, broke, and the snow wrought isle flitted out to sea.

    Aurora

A floating spectral of light roared across the veil. Lands came and went as did both surrounding dark and light. Existance and lack there of flowed alongside these ever changing variables. Yet, such change would cease as Aurora discovered what partook her eyes. A plane lay far below, its surface as simple as the veil she traveled. Her mind was weary from the constant changing and so she took to what seemed proper. She descended from the heavens in a blinding light as she cascaded herself into the sea. There she began her slumber, to awaken when deemed necessary.

The Faithful and the Giver bestowed their gift upon the ambitious pool of water and elevated it into the heavens, kneading its form and spreading it out as waves of white and soft linen and cloth. They made it so, that the heavens would become pregnant many times a year, so water would come pouring from the heavens and replace what was lost.

As the first raindrops fell from the heavens and the lakebed begun to fill anew, the Faithful and the Giver smiled.

Dawn of Worlds - Ethrum I9d9ZVa

    The Forest of Arkaenon

Stoicly he meditated amidst the center of the forest, lost in complete serenity as the passage of time began to advance. The ages trailed past his form and the forest he had nurtured had began to steadily expand through his own power. He awoken to traverse the grounds, marveling the perfection of his work.

However, it was then that he spotted a most curios sight. Sentient life had been made. Creatures of iron that seeked to consume his domain. Angered, the God of Magic returned to the heart of the forest and ripped out a small piece of his own divine essence. He crushed it into dust and scattered it across his domain. From the millions of dust particales began to arise creatures composed of pale bodies, sharp teeth, claws capable of rending through iron and tails which burned brightly with magic.

He instilled upon these creatures his own value of order and commanded them to eternaly guard the forest from those that would seek to disbalance or destroy it. Their god gifted them with the power of primitive magic and named them Manalings.

Dawn of Worlds - Ethrum Ed3uIUN

Satisfied with his creation he rose up into the sky and bathed the land in his energy once more accelerating the spread of his forest and the creatures within. Finally drained from his divine actions he returned to medidate within the comfort of his domain.

The Dunes went on, as the hounds appeared.

The hills clamored at my fall, turning to dust. My eyes could not see too far, as I was buried beneath the sundered desert. All I saw around me, was the dunes. Shining still in the starlit sky, as even the smallest fragments of sand sparkled like gold. The sand was yet to set, as cold winds blew amok.

I stared across the land, it was only sand. Though at the edges were mountains, making my bed into a valley of gold. I still felt unsatisfied. Was there more to be gained from this place? Perhaps this would make my new abode. Perhaps the venomous flare shall meet me again? Only time can tell what it beholds.

I worry for this new land of mine, it is desolate. Soulless. Empty. A barren wasteland not too different from what it used to be. No, that isn't what I want. Not at the least. All that lay around me was stone and sand. I sought out a plan in mind, as I looked up to the stars, a vision came to me from the dimmed suns afar. Dogs of Avarice, with fire in their hearts. Tail of A'ruun, Faces two. In my eyes, they are the U'kaas.

    Affos, Turn Two

He sat on his usual tree stub, looking over the horizon. Nothing, the silence haunted him from even beyond the cosmos. Affos felt a twinge of fear when he realized that this large world had no one else, only him. So he grabbed his chisel and a large stone and made the first birds, owls. With them he populated his home and sent them across the world. He intended them to serve as a sign to notify the other gods about his arrival.

Afterwards, the god created another creature to make him company. An ethereal being, composed only of light and purity. He called them mos, and they stood there, singing their harmonious song to the almighty Affos.

    Xanthas, Turn Two

Xanthas brooded in the quiet depths of Ethrum. Ever attuned to the flowing of blood - that sacred delicacy of the material realm that was the fruit and flower of planes such as this - Xanthas detected the flittering of fresh mortal life somewhere in the expanse above him. Not yet desiring to make his presence overtly known to the other spirits inhabiting the plane, Xanthas decided his influence would be enacted subtly at first.

He poured the energy which he had coalesced whilst slumbering into the stone firmament and soil of the plane, riddling it with a divine material that would be attuned to him. This material - an opaque red stone with a faint warmth - would collect the life essence of all the creatures that died and decayed into the earth where it was present.

To serve in this divine cycle, Xanthas sent into the world hundreds upon thousands of small burrowing insects that would break down the mortal husk of the deceased and return their essence to the earth where it could be better collected.

    Xanthas had cast his net.

Dawn of Worlds - Ethrum Eir_Glanfath_coa

The Faithful and the Giver moved down from the mountains to the vibrant, roiling plains to the north and saw them empty. There they planted the seeds of life and sustenance, turning the empty swathes of land into a place for one to call home - for one to feel safe. With their hands, they brought lifeblood of this world from the mountains to the sea by clawing a deep river into the soil with smaller vassal streams off across the land.

    The land blossomed with colour.

    And the Giver smiled.

Actions: Created a large river from the mountain lake to the northern sea with multiple vassal streams stretching out, changed the northern stretch of land to vertile fields/plains: (-9)

    'Lord of Summer'

This world was dark and in its emptiness and its wastelands Ricmjir awoke in a heating blaze spread across the Mountains. His form was halved at first, and his eyes not equipped for sight in this eerie place. With a scorching sight, he lifted his old, slow and crackling palm into the air, and with what seemed like dry clay, broken and crumbling, came a heat this world had never seen before; a light, a beacon that swarmed closer to the sky. Bringing light to this world, Ricmjir had created the Sun, and so Summer - and then those who referenced him later detailed him as the Lord of Summer, no one knowing his true name.

    Points: 5
Actions: Climate Change, created the Sun

With his anger cooled, the young god calmed and looked on with macabre curiosity as the spark of violence erupted, only worsened by Arkaenon's little fae spawn jumping into the fray. What was felt; a hollow, fleeting sense of satisfaction followed by timeless boredom. What was death without meaning? He didn't know, and wouldn't for a long time yet to come.

Leaving the thought to fester, his mind started working like clockwork, the million pieces of a greater whole clicking into place. To become relevant, Klamaak would need more power. Raw magical power hidden deep within Ethrum.

Thought turned into action, and from the world's center did he coax a pillar - nay, a construct - that would pierce the very skies. It was as pristine as the whitest ivory, without any of the gleam, threatening to overwork one's eyes if gazed at for too long. The empty god relished the sight and imbued it with a sliver of his very own divinity, so that all magicka both old and new, would be conducted through this obelisk and channeled directly to him.

As it feeds, a loud thrum starts to restonate across the surrounding plains...

    Aurora

The waves churned amid the morning sun. They were violent as they crashed into one another, sweeping away anything caught in their path. Here and there water burst-ed up like a pillar before falling back down.

The ocean rumbled. The sea rose higher as the rumbling continued more and more. Eventually, the world ceased its shaking, but the ocean continued to rise. Soon enough a sphere broke through, a sphere of white rock. Up it went, water slipping off the sides. The large object continued to emerge from the sea as it towered over everything in sight.

Soon enough it would find its place in the sky, high above. A moon had been born from the plane it resided over. And deep within the sea Aurora smiled at her creation. Yet, she knew it was not time to emerge. Her eyes fluttered shut as she went back to dormancy.

Actions: Raise a Moon from the sea and put it in the sky.
